Nursing student reunites with, learns from life-saving nurseCongratulations, Master’s Entry Program in Nursing Class of 2019!

The graduating class of master’s-degree nursing students celebrated the completion of their 18-month program with the traditional pinning ceremony Dec. 12. The class of 48 now goes on to complete the national registered nursing licensing exam in the next few months. Meet one graduate, Jason Ramos, who was inspired to a career in health care by the nurse who saved his life nearly 15 years ago.

Nurse researcher Piri Ackerman-Barger works to increase diversity in the health professions workforce to ensure more nurses, physicians and physician assistants represent the communities they serve. She says this begins with more inclusive learning environments to better support underrepresented students. She works with an interprofessional team of researchers to better understand the experiences of minority health professions students.
