Spirit Halloween gives back to UC Davis Children's Hospital


Spirit Halloween won't have tricks, but they will be giving plenty of treats to UC Davis Children's Hospital patients this Halloween season.

The specialty retail store will host a Halloween party for the children in the hospital and their siblings next month, offering free costumes, crafts and entertainment. Participating stores in the Sacramento region will also donate 10 percent of its sales to the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, while offering shoppers 10 percent off their purchases.

Participating store locations include Birdcage Centre Lane in Citrus Heights, Oakdale Road in Modesto, McHenry Avenue in Modesto, Pelandale Road in Modesto, Lonetree Boulevard in Rocklin, Foothills Boulevard in Roseville, Douglas Boulevard in Roseville, Madison Avenue/Date Avenue in Sacramento and in Colusa Avenue in Yuba City. Shoppers can download this coupon for 10 percent off at these locations or at through Oct. 31, 2018.

Spirit Halloween Superstores raises money online and in its stores to support the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, which helps to minimize the anxiety of hospitalization, increase understanding and strengthen coping skills for children. The donations at UC Davis Children's Hospital provide training and supervision for individuals aspiring to be certified child life specialists. In 2017, the stores donated $73,878 to UC Davis Children's Hospital's Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department.

UC Davis Children's Hospital is the Sacramento region's only nationally ranked, comprehensive hospital providing care for infants, children, adolescents and young adults with primary, subspecialty and critical care.
